Spirituality / Religious DimensionThe religious dimension of St Matthews underlies and influences all that we do. As a Christian educational community we promote meaningful values and a vision, based on the life of Christ. Our school motto is Veritas Magna et Praevalebit (Truth is Great and will Prevail). This refers to a whole school atmosphere characterised by the search for what is true. These values are expressed not only in our Religious Education curriculum but also in the values that underpin all our Key Learning Areas and co-curricula activities. We believe children need a sense of meaning, belief and coherence. Our Religious Education programs are focused on the Catholic faith and we openly promote its value in dialogue with contemporary culture. Students also learn about other faiths and beliefs in order to advance understanding and wisdom in our multicultural society and world. Spirituality is fostered through a comprehensive prayer, liturgy and retreat program. Each year students are exposed to numerous experiences, encouraged to develop personal spirituality and to develop a strong understanding of the Catholic ethos.
