Curriculum

Curriculum / Infants and Primary K-6

The Infants and Primary school years represent a unique stage of development, where boys and girls are discovering and developing their physical, social, emotional, spiritual and educational needs.

The academic program for students in the Infants and Primary school introduces a wide variety of learning units and assessment strategies that provide them with multiple opportunities to demonstrate success in learning.

We challenge our students to explore their faith and to act justly as members of St Matthews community.

At St Matthews, we believe students in the Infants and Primary school benefit from:

  • small class sizes that maximize the learning environment for each student
  • well qualified and caring teachers who are committed to the development of the individual and the philosophy of the school
  • student centred learning that focuses on each child's individual needs and promotes independent learning
  • an outcomes based curriculum that monitors progress and encourages personal best.

The Infants and Primary school is also backed by a team of learning support staff who work closely with students who need extra assistance with schoolwork, as well as identifying those students with exceptional talent.
